Auto forwarding incoming faxes with Net SatisFAXtion can be done in a variety of different ways depending on the type of fax port hardware and telephony system used with the fax server.


- DID Routing: This requires DID service from your phone company, and specialized DID fax hardware. Each
person in your business will be assigned a different fax number. The digits are entered into the identifier field
of the user's configuration.

- DTMF Routing: This requires a registry setting. The people sending faxes to you have to type an extra string of
digits after the fax device goes off hook to answer an incoming ring. This method is prone to user error and
further assumes that the sender knows the digit string of the recipient. The digits are entered into the identifier of
the user's configuration.

Alternately, some PBX's can be configured to suppy the DTMF tones from established DID lines. Loop-start
analog port hardware can usually be configured to accept these tones. They can then be converted into
discrete integer digits and used for routing purposes.

- CSID Routing: The csid of the sender is checked, and if the csid is in the identifier of the user's configuration, it will
forward the fax to that person. Only one CSID can be specified per user, so this method is generally not very

- Line or Port Routing: Each incoming line can be assigned to a user or a group of users. Once the line is assigned, it
is dedicated to that user or group, and cannot be used for reception for any other user or group; however, all
users can still send faxes on this line, assuming that it has outbound capability. Line routing does not work when using IP fax drivers. IP Gateways or IP SIP trunks are not a 1 to 1 match with a port at the fax server.

- Auto-forwarding from the Postmaster receive queue: The "Enable Autoforwarding" box is checked in the
Postmaster account and the group or user is selected in the drop-down window. Every fax that arrives in the
main receive queue (Postmaster receive queue), will subsequently be routed to group or user.

These are the only ways to do automatic routing. DID is the best but is costly. Manually routing faxes with the Administration program is the most common routing method.
