This article applies to NET SatisFAXtion 8.5.

PROBLEM

Brooktrout TR-114 or TruFax hardware does not answer inbound calls, Admin shows them as Not-Responding or in some rare cases the machine appears to lock up.

SOLUTION

First verify the firmware is not up to date.
Navigate to the Fax Servers installation directory - (typically) C:\Program Files\NET SatisFAXtion\Bfax
Open btcall.cfg with notepad.

In the firmware section look for v219-2m.pex

firm16 C:\PROGRA~1\NETSAT~1\bfax\V180-16.PEX
firmware C:\PROGRA~1\NETSAT~1\bfax\v202-164.pex
firmware_2m c:\flatland\BFAX\v219-2m.pex

If the path to this file is "c:\flatland\bfax" it is not updated.

If your version of the fax server is 7.5 or older, then also include the steps in "Version 7.5 Instructions"

Follow these instructions if your version of the fax server is 8.0 or newer

To update the firmware, download the attached v219-2m.pex file to your fax servers, .\Bfax directory
Change the firmware-2m line in btcall.cfg to include the correct path to this file

Right click on and select Save As -

firmware_2m C:\PROGRA~1\NETSAT~1\bfax\v219-2m.pex

Version 8.0 - Stop and restart the fax server service.
Version 7.5 or older, continue on to Version 7.5 Instructions

Version 7.5 Instructions
- Right click on My Computer then click Manage
- Locate under Other Devices the ?! Network Controller - Right Click on Network Controller and select Update Driver
- If this does not exist, go to Brooktrout Fax Boards - Right click on Brooktrout TruFax (or TR-114) Board and select Properties
- Click the Driver tab and check that the version is 4.3.2.85 or newer. If it is older, click Update Driver
- If prompted to connect to Windows update so search for software, select No, not this time and click next
- Select Install from a list or specific location and click next
- Check include this location in the search, then click browse
- Navigate to C:\Program Files\NET SatisFAXtion\bfax_pnp then click next
- If prompted for the bfax.sys file, point it to the same directory - C:\Program Files\NET SatisFAXtion\bfax_pnp (note sometimes it will add i386 to the end, so remove \i386)
- You will have to restart the computer at this point to update the system driver for the Brooktrout card
