This article applies to NET SatisFAXtion 8.0 through 8.5.

PROBLEM

NET SatisFAXtion does not start up properly after a system reboot. Starting NET SatisFAXtion manually works correctly.

Error message is "Could not initialize pre-converter (RunCvt.exe)"

SOLUTION

For 8.1 and newer servers, download this zip, extract the contents, and merge it into the registry. -

For server version 8.0.3269.799 only; see below for full instructions. -

For Version 8.5 and newer, no file is needed, but you will need the reg file from one of the above zip files.
Alternately, create the following registry dword value:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\FaxBack\CASDrive]
"PreLoadDelay"=dword:00000078
Install process for 8.1 and newer:
  1. Stop your email gateway (if any), then stop NET SatisFAXtion.
  2. Double-click on the attached casdriveupdate.reg file to merge the setting into the registry.
  3. Reboot
  4. NET SatisFAXtion should load properly.

Install process for 8.0:
  1. Stop your email gateway (if any), then stop NET SatisFAXtion.
  2. Navigate to C:\Program Files\NET SatisFAXtion\
  3. Rename the existing casdrive.dll to casdrive.dll.old
  4. Copy the attached casdrive.dll to C:\Program Files\NET SatisFAXtion\
  5. Double-click on the attached casdriveupdate.reg file to merge the setting into the registry.
  6. Reboot
  7. NET SatisFAXtion should load properly.
