SOLUTION

Creating your NET SatisFAXtion server's settings from one machine to another is fairly easy. Please review the following and decide which settings and data you want to move, then follow the indicated steps.
Note that the new server must have a licensed copy of NET SatisFAXtion installed before hand. If you have a current support agreement, you can download the latest release from our Update Center. If you are using the same type of fax hardware, install the hardware first using the manufactures instructions, so the properly installed hardware can be detected by the NET SatisFAXtion installation. Some hardware types are documented in a file at the root of the NET SatisFAXtion CD image, named "README FIRST - Installation Guide.pdf"

Gather configuration files and information from your active fax server

Backup the Registry
Export the key [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\FaxBack]
This registry backup file can be used as a reference later for any custom settings you may have. (DO NOT Merge this backup reg file to your new server)
Email Gateway
Be sure to install an email gateway if you had one installed before. The settings of your original gateway can be found by running the "SMTP Gateway Setup" or "POP3 Gateway Setup" from your active servers start menu
Dialing Rules
If you have customized the dialing rules for your location, copy this file to the new server:
From: C:\Program Files\NET SatisFAXtion\
Copy:
  • validate.rul
Fax Log Database
If you would like to retain your fax logs so you can see your history from the Reports application, copy these files: (stop the SQL Service with the instance name of netsatisfaxtion, and the NETSatisFAXtion service)
From: C:\Program Files\NET SatisFAXtion\Databases\
Copy:
  • NET_SatisFAXtion_Logs.dat
  • NET_SatisFAXtion_Logs.dat.ldf
User List
This includes your user list, groups, and routing information.
Copy these files from your old server to the new one. (Stop the NETSatisFAXtion service and Administration)
From: C:\Program Files\NET SatisFAXtion\
Copy:
  • GroupMembers.fbf
  • Groups.fbf
  • LineManager.fbf
  • UserAliasList.fbf
  • UserList.fbf
  • UserListInfo.fbf
Cover Sheets
If your users have any customized cover sheets, copy these entire directories:
From: C:\Program Files\NET SatisFAXtion\
Copy:
  • Cover Sheet Templates
  • Templates
FAXability User Queues
If you have any FAXability clients, copy this directory:
From: C:\Program Files\NET SatisFAXtion\
Copy:
  • User Queues

Installing and configuring your backup server

This requires an additional software license
Installing the NET SatisFAXtion server software
Install the fax hardware based on the hardware manufactures instructions
Install the NET SatisFAXtion fax server based on the README FIRST - Installation Guide.pdf in the root of the CD image or C:\NET SatisFAXtion CD Image folder if the software was downloaded.
Copying your active servers configuration to your backup server
After gathering all the files and settings from above, stop the NET SatisFAXtion service, Email Gateway Service and SQL Server services.
