PLATFORMS AFFECTED: OS: Fax Server - Windows XP, Windows 2003 NET SatisFAXtion 7.x


Logon Error from FAXability "CAS LOGON error 4099 - Server Query Failed" usually indicating the fax server is not running or cannot be found on the network. Installing Email Gateways will error in the same manor when attempting to logon to the fax server and create the gateway system user.



Internet connection firewall installed on Windows XP and Windows 2003 is turned on by default and blocks http communiction with the fax server


Disable the Internet Connection Firewall (on XP SP2 this is named Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing (ICS)
Go to Control Panel - Administrative Tools - Services. Right click on Internet Connection Firewall or Windows Firewall/... and stop the service. Right click on it again, and click Properties. Set the Startup Type to Manual or Disabled.
