Error 110 is ‘The system cannot open the device or file specified’ in install.log during Office 2010 Client Suite installation. This affects Windows 7 and Windows 8 OS clients. The error occurs after clicking Next to begin the installation after selecting the file destination folder during install of the client suite. The error is found in the resulting 'C:\Users\<current user>\AppData\Local\Temp\VSDC590.tmp\install.log' file.


This error can occur if the current user's temp folders are encrypted.


Browse to the folder C:\Users\<current user>\AppData\Local. Right click on the \temp folder and go to Properties, then click on Advanced.

Note: <current user> should be replaced by the name of the user that is currently logged in.

Check ‘Encrypt Data’ setting. If it’s enabled, it can cause windows error 110 due to an inability to read or write to the directory effectively for the installation.

Restart the client suite install.
