PROBLEM

After running Microsoft Updates on your Exchange Server, the Gateway logs show errors for each message sent, containing SubmitMessage () Failed! The cause is still unknown and is suspected send as and receive as permissions are somehow changed to the Administrator account the gateway service logs in with, are no longer sufficient.

SOLUTION

Change the log-on to LocalSystem for the NET SatisFAXtion Exchange Gateway service.

Right click my computer - select Manage
Click Services and Applications
Click Services
locate NET SatisFAXtion Exchange email gateway and right click on it. Select Properties
Select the Log On Tab
Select Local System Account
Click Apply, then OK
stop the service, then restart it.
