PROBLEM

Fax ATAs cannot re-establish connection with the Fax Device - mainly with certain Xerox WorkCentre All-in-one machines

SOLUTION


We have a firmware ready for you to push out to your customers with Xerox machines that fail to receive with error code 30216. There are three ways to update a Fax ATA’s firmware.

  1. 1. Manual firmware update
  2. 2. Update INI files to push the firmware upgrade to all connected Fax ATA’s
  3. 3. Flat File INI

NOTE: All references to P042 firmware below are to be replaced with P044

  1. 1. Manual Update:
Login to the Fax ATA by going to http://mp202.home, connected to the LAN port, or by typing it’s external WAN IP address if Remote Administration allows incoming access to the Web Management.
Click Advanced on the left column
Click MP20X Firmware Upgrade
Click (bottom left) Upgrade Now button

Navigate to the Firmware file and click Open

Click OK

Wait for approximately 30 seconds to several minutes and you will see the current version and new version displayed. Click OK to upgrade to the new version

Phone 1, 2 and the status lights on the front of the ATA will blink while the firmware is updated.
Wait approximately 3 minutes. The Fax ATA will reboot when the firmware download has completed.

To verify the version update, login to the Fax ATA again
Click Advanced on the left column
Click MP20X Firmware Upgrade
Check the Current Version displayed in the upper left corner

Complete by testing that you can send and receive faxes using this Fax ATA.


  1. 2. Using the Fax ATA Connector provisioning

  1. 1. Place the firmware file where the customer can host files. Get the URL and test you can download it from a browser.
    Example: NSServer hosts from C:\inetpub\wwwroot. It’s Internet facing URL is https://YOURSERVER.COM/mp20x_2_6_4_p042_build_9_rev_b_sip_pfax_15_may_2014.rmt

  1. 2. Load the Fax ATA Administration from the start menu (Start – All Programs – ATA Connector – Administration

  1. 3. Click (if licensed) Providers and modify the proper provider level, based on which Fax ATA’s you want to have this version of firmware

  1. 4. Using the above URL and the rg_conf command, you create rg_conf/rmt_upd/url=https://YOURSERVER.COM/mp20x_2_6_4_p042_build_9_rev_b_sip_pfax_15_may_2014.rmt

  1. 5. Add the line “rg_conf/rmt_upd/url=https://YOURSERVER.com/mp20x_2_6_4_p042_build_9_rev_b_sip_pfax_15_may_2014.rmt” and click Save

  1. 6. Assuming you already have an ATA configured to this server, test the URL to see that you now have the firmware showing up for your Fax ATA’s MAC address. https://faxata.com/mp202-<MAC>.ini

  1. 7. Cycle the power on your Fax ATA and see that it updates

  1. 8. Test



  1. 3. Flat File INI update
Copy the attached firmware file to the same location where your current firmware file is hosted.
Change INI’s to update the line “rg_conf/rmt_upd/url=” to include your hosted URL to the new firmware

Modify the line to include the new firmware, using your hosted URL
“rg_conf/rmt_upd/url=https:YOURSERVER.COM/mp20x_2_6_4_p042_build_9_rev_b_sip_pfax_15_may_2014.rmt”
