This article applies to NET SatisFAXtion 8.5.

PROBLEM

Some requests have been made to change the way data is displayed in the NET SatisFAXtion Report tool.

Since NET SatisFAXtion is built on .NET technology, XML files are used to configure how an executable works. To change the behavior of a program, have your XML programmer change the reports.xml file or add a CustomReports.XML that will also be looked for by Reports.exe at load time.

SOLUTION

The following Example will show you how to remove access codes and a 1 from the front of a fax phone number in the report display. This is not a supported feature from NET SatisFAXtion Support, nor from CAS Support. The example below will help your XML Programmer to understand how to manipulate how a report looks. If you would like FaxBack to do any custom programming for you, please call your sales rep with a spec, and they can offer you a quote to perform the customization requested.

If you create a CustomReports.xml and place it in the NET SatisFAXtion folder (where Reports.exe resides) Reports.exe will read the CustomReports.xml file as well as Reports.xml, when it loads to display the report based on those 2 XML configuration files.

EXAMPLE:

<Reporting>
<Reports>
<Formatting>
<Receiver_Address>
<If>
<CompareString>StartsWith=1</CompareString>
<True>
<TrimLeft>1</TrimLeft>
</True>
</If>
<If>
<CompareString>StartsWith=9</CompareString>
<True>
<TrimLeft>1</TrimLeft>
</True>
</If>
<If>
<CompareString>StartsWith=9,</CompareString>
<True>
<TrimLeft>2</TrimLeft>
</True>
</If>
</Receiver_Address>
</Formatting>
</Reports>
</Reporting>
